should an interview reimbursement take this long

sorry this is long but the sequence matters.

creative development job. first interview normal, second interview at the producer’s house. assistant lets me in and says can you hold benji a second. benji is a dog. she’s heading out to run errands and pick the producer up from pilates. says the groomer’s coming over but she should be back in time.

i’m sitting awkwardly in her living room and this dog starts slobbering all over my leg. then he gets down and starts dragging his ass across the rug. texted the assistant. she goes oh he needs his glands expressed. i don’t even know what that means. she says they’re running late and it would be amazing if i could handle the groomer.

groomer shows up. won’t start without payment. i call the assistant and she says can you cover it and we’ll reimburse you. so i pay $85

then he needs me to hold the front end of benji.

that’s where i am when the producer gets home. on her rug, restraining her dog, while the groomer says “there’s quite a lot.” she asks sparkling or still.

i say sparkling. very firmly. felt important to establish i was visiting.

by the time we sit down for the interview i’ve been there like 2 hours. she says they need someone who can anticipate her needs.

anyway i declined. emailed the receipt to the assistant. followed up twice. she said she’d check.

never paid me.
