Per My LastScroll up, Karen.

she asked if i was still coming tuesday

Quit my personal assistant job standing in my boss’s kitchen on the Upper East Side. Had a whole speech ready but mostly said I couldn’t keep doing this. She cried. I cried. Worked for her 3 years. I knew more about her marriage than either person in it.

Then she asked if I could drop off a return on my way out. I said okay because I was literally going past the store.

Then the housekeeper came in with dry cleaning. Fine. Same direction.

By the lobby I had 4 bags and an envelope for her daughter downtown. Doorman asked if I needed a car. I said no, I don’t work here anymore. Which didn’t answer his question.

Took everything on the 6. One of the bags had those rope handles that get thinner the more expensive the clothes are. Had to put it down at every stop to get blood back in my fingers. Daughter wasn’t home. Waited outside her apartment for 40 minutes holding a garment bag above the sidewalk because I knew what the coat cost.

Boss texted asking where the return receipt was. Sent a photo.

She put a heart on it, then asked if I was still coming Tuesday.

I wrote “of course” and had to call her to quit again.
