Nobody died in the deck
I’m leaving consulting. Before anyone schedules time to understand what drove this decision, we’ve had that meeting. You called it a check-in and spent most of it telling me about your own difficult first year.
My father had surgery in April. I asked for 1 day. You said of course, family first, then asked if I could stay loosely connected. For anyone junior reading this, loosely connected means working normally but from a worse chair.
I sent the revised deck from the hospital. You replied that the blue was wrong. I changed the blue. You said to use the previous blue. My father woke up while I was comparing the 2 versions and asked if I was busy. I told him no while continuing to type.
That part is on me. I could have closed the laptop. But you knew where I was and still sent “quick one” 6 times.
I haven’t accepted another role. I understand that concerned you when I gave notice. You asked how I’d explain the gap. Probably more easily than I can explain what I was doing during the last 4 years.
