The Procedure Is Attached
Friday is my last day. Attached is the procedure manual I was asked to produce before leaving. It is 83 pages because apparently the job that didn’t warrant a salary review warrants an extensive written record of how to do it.
I have trained both replacements. They seem nice. Neither was told there used to be 3 people doing this.
Please stop describing this as a knowledge transfer problem. I transferred the knowledge in March. Then again in May after you hired a consultant to ask me what I did. He put my answers in boxes, charged you more than my annual salary, and recommended clearer ownership.
For the record, I did apply for the manager position. I was told I lacked experience leading a team. You then asked me to help the successful candidate settle in because he had never managed this function before. He asked what our department’s initials stood for. I answered because I needed health insurance.
He now has the manual. Please direct questions to him. If he forwards them to me with “Thoughts?” I will block him.
