he asked for specific examples

been here 2 years. new MBA associate starts and immediately wants a daily priorities meeting. mine are pretty consistent. finish the work. go home.

he checks in every 20 minutes with shit you think people don’t actually say, but apparently do. just wanted to touch base. where are we netting out. send me a screenshot of what you’re working on. I send one. he calls to walk through the screenshot. it’s the same slide as 20 minutes ago because I’ve spent the last 20 minutes updating him on the slide

last Thursday I spent 45 minutes teaching him how to copy the formatting from one slide to another. not build a slide. copy the formatting. Friday he tells me I need to start thinking beyond execution. I’d love to. unfortunately someone needs to know how the slides work.

VP asks me privately how he’s settling in. I say he’s still getting up to speed. VP asks for specific examples. so I give him a few.

associate comes over after his check-in and says the VP thinks he needs to be more hands-on. he now asks me to send screenshots every 10 minutes instead of 20. says he can’t help me if he doesn’t have visibility.

he has 2 monitors. I’m on both. neither of us is getting anything done.
